Black Friday 2018. Another day of media induced shopping mayhem where good deals and punches in the face can be had by all. But in the waning hours when all the frantic hunters have retreated to their home bases, a few people wander in to discover any remaining bargains that haven’t been picked clean from the bone.
This year, late Friday afternoon and evening appeared calmer than prior years with customers peacefully strolling the aisles. They were quietly going about their quest to uncover any leftover items that would make an ideal gift for someone in their life. And one of those shoppers was actually in a very good mood when they committed a Random Act of Coolness.
It was around 6:30pm and I was walking past Aisle 31 when I spotted it. There among the faucets and bath supplies stood a little guy charged with uplifting tired spirits this time of year. It made me smile as I wondered who might have posed this little furry thing in his ‘inspecting the towel bars’ stance. Normally I would have gathered him up and returned him to where he is merchandised but instead he was left there to prompt another person to smile too.
To whomever did this, you helped generate the feeling this time of year was intended to create with your Random Act of Coolness. Whoever you are… thank you. Have a Happy Holiday Season.
